Description: A heath fire about 3 kilometres north of the airport (left in the photo), produced a lot of thick, dark smoke. Nearing the airfield a line of pyrocumulus developed above the smoke and continued some way downwind of the island. By coincidence the Battle of Britain air display was taking place that day, with the old B17 aircraft waiting for takeoff providing a replica wartime scene.
