Photo No. 143 "Horseshoe Vortex"

Title: "Horseshoe Vortex"

Place: Torres Torres, Comunidad Valenciana, Spain
Date: 2009-06-08
Description: When I saw the sky and its transformation that evening, there was no doubt I had to leave home as soon as possible, in order to be able to capture the light of this particularly windy sunset in Quart de les Valls. With the last light of the day, some curious clouds appeared. I had never observed clouds like that before. I checked lately that they could be horsehoe vortex or, for French people, "croissant" clouds. Thess clouds are really unusual and difficult to spot.
I used the vertical format to give the composition more dynamism. Despite the fact that these clouds were accompanied by a supercell storm, it rained very little.
