Description: The first day of that month was characterized by a typical autumn condition of the North-Western Italian Alps. Dense and nearly white stratus clouds covered plains and valley floors, creating thick fog below 1,300 meters and sunny weather in the mountains. In the afternoon the historical village of Maffiotto (1,323 metres), the autumn coloured mountainside of Condove town, in Susa Valley near Turin, was just above a layer of stratus clouds. A striking view allowed to see most of the highest mountains of Piedmont, in particular the Cottian and Graian Alps.
