Description: The photograph shows a crepuscular ray display in the evening sky. The Sun was already about five degrees below the horizon when it cast a long shadow on distant clouds. The phenomenon might have been caused by the Sarychev, a stratovolcano covering almost the entirety of Matua Island in the Kuril Islands, the eruption of which blasted ashes and aerosols into the stratosphere previously. Coloured twilight skies and volcanic sunsets were visible across Europe at that time. This photograph was taken on a bank of the Sous Dam.
